Supporting the Fairfax Law Foundation

April 8th, 2019
By: admin

Our firm was proud to serve again as a sponsor for the Fairfax Law Foundation’s 10th annual Heroes v. Villains 5K race on Sunday, April 7, 2019. The Fairfax Law Foundation provides indigent Fairfax County residents with direct access to the legal community through both educational and charitable activities. We showed our spirit by dressing as DC Comic villains, and by either running, walking or volunteering at the race. Our own Matt Roberson came in 1st overall in the race for his 7th year straight! We enjoy participating in events which benefit our community and legal profession.

Trial Tactics Workshop

Melissa H. Katz, Esquire
March 20th, 2019
By: Melissa H. Katz, Esquire

mock trial courtroomOn March 15-16, 2019, the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys (“VADA”) conducted its popular Trial Tactics Workshop at the University of Richmond School of Law. Experienced civil defense attorneys coached newer attorneys who signed up to participate in a full day mock personal injury trial. The fact pattern was grisly and involved amputation of the plaintiff’s right arm after he developed an infection from burns he sustained after being allegedly crammed into an MRI machine that may have been too small for his large stature. The issues were whether the radiologist breached the standard of care and whether plaintiff’s injuries were caused by the breach. Judges from around our Commonwealth kindly agreed to share their time and preside over these mock trials. This included the Hon. John W. Brown of the Chesapeake Circuit Court, Hon. David B. Carson of the Roanoke City Circuit Court, Hon. John M. Tran of the Fairfax County Circuit Court and Hon. Archer L. Yeatts III (Ret.) of the Henrico General District Court. These judges offered sage advice as well as constructive critique of each participant’s trial skills. Our own associate, Charles Nucciarone, had the opportunity to participate in the workshop. Our firm is very active in the VADA and continues to support and participate in the educational opportunities frequently offered by VADA and other organizations to improve our knowledge and trial skills in the area of insurance defense and coverage. #VADAtrialtacticsworkshop2019 #trialskills
